Best Weekend Ever!

This was one of the best weekends ever! It was jam packed full of fun. I love college life.

On Friday I hung out with my boyfriend, Scott, for the afternoon – we just watched a movie and hung out. It was nice to just unwind from the week and rest up for what would prove to be a busy weekend! Then I watched Grey’s Anatomy with some girls since we missed it on Thursday. We always have a great time just being together and watching the drama that is Grey’s Anatomy. It’s less about the show, and more about just being together as friends for us – what a great time!
Friday night was LIVE BAND KARAOKE! Me and another friend, Hannah, planned this event for our campus and it came off wonderfully. We hired a band called “the Hootennanies” and they played while we sang! We had over 150 people come to the event and we were all singing and having fun from 10pm-1am. It was awesome to see people laugh and have a good time. It was wonderful to let loose and just sing our hearts out! After that me and 5 friends went to the Flying J truck stop where we go late at night a lot of times and we just laughed a lot. It’s a random place to go and talk late at night that's less than 10 minutes from campus and open 24 hours a day.
On Saturday I slept in then went around and enjoyed the excitement of having lots of little kids on campus. This was "Little Sibs Weekend" at Bluffton, so there were lots of people with little ones running around. My hall was having a big volleyball game, Student Senate had a putt-putt course, MCB has a rock wall, etc. It was awesome to see people hanging out with their little sibs and having a good time.
Then I got ready and me and Scott went with another couple to Fort Wayne where we met two other couples that Scott knows from home. We had a nice dinner out then went and played games at my house. It was so awesome for the eight of us to just have a good time together and I got to know some great new people. We got back to campus really late and Scott and I just hung out for awhile. Then, it was time for round two of the Flying J! I went again with three of my friends to catch up on the events of the day for everyone.
This morning I got up and went to Church with Scott and two other couples at a Church that I hadn’t been to before. It was a really nice church and a great way to start this beautiful day. The rest of the day I’ve just been out walking with friends and enjoying the sunshine. I went with my fellow hall staff members out to dinner to bond as we approach the end of the year.
Tonight I’m going on a couple of more walks to enjoy the crazy warm weather! Woo hoo!
Overall, I think I could say this was the best weekend ever! I love being with friends and Scott and meeting new people and walking outside and playing games and laughing and enjoying the sunshine, and, and, and...
I hope you’re enjoying sunshine too.
Until next time – make sure you smile a lot :)

Through Good Times and Bad...

Hello :)

As I am sure many of you have heard, our campus went through a terrible tragedy on March 2nd when a bus accident carrying our baseball time killed 5 students. Let me first say that we greatly appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers - this campus has felt the tremendous support that has been shown for us and for that we are forever grateful. It has not been an easy road, but Bluffton is on its way to recovering and we, as a student body along with faculty and staff, have banded together to get through this hard time. I am so thankful for the way Bluffton's community can pull together and be there for one another...I am honored to be a part of this campus. We went on Spring Break the day of the accident, so everyone went home and processed everything alone, then we came back on Sunday to be with friends and begin the greiving process. We had a memorial for those who lost their lives on Monday night and from then have continued to process all of the emotions. Being on such a small campus, we all knew the men on that bus in one way or another and this tragedy has hit this campus hard, however we all know that together we will get through this and live in a way that will honor those who are no longer with us.

Through good times and bad, the people of Bluffton come together. There is no way I could have gotten through this without the love and support of my friends. Since we have been back from Spring Break we have gotten together and laughed and cried. This past weekend was so awesome because I was able to just relax and have fun again. Me and my friends went to one of our friends houses and had a St.Patrick's Day dress-up competition (it was like we were 7 again!) and had a blast. It was one of those moments where we all felt the love and support that we had for each other and knew we would never had to do anything along - what an absolute blessing. I have included a picture from our crazy St.Patrick's Day fun :).

Until next time,

Mary :)
